What is the concept of UI and UX and what are the differences between the both?

The most common thing between the stalwart applications like Facebook, Amazon and Uber is that they are designed with full scale perfection. It is important to note that before the advent of Facebook, Myspace terribly failed to create it’s presence because of an absence of a decent UI. Following it, Yelp, Four Square didn’t make it big due to the same reason. In order to set the basic elements right, one must first clearly understand them. UI and UX are one of most common elements and knowing about it is not a back breaking task as below, we have provided you with detailed information about them.

What is UX?

UX or user experience basically refers to the ideal process of improvement of the user satisfaction rate with a product or an application. Such a rate can be possibly achieved by initiating a boost in the accessibility, usability and performance of the app. Coined by Don Norman, UX describes the significance of having a user-centered design. Each and every design model should be implemented only after considering the needs and expectations of users. UX encompasses perception of consumers prior to, during, and after their use of the app. That might include the craft of coming with the most appealing overview of the app, a swift download process, better user interface and post usage interaction with the client.

What is UI?

UI or User Interface revolves around the usability and convention of an app. Highly user friendly and efficient easy to use features are the key to an alluring UI model. The UI includes all the interactions that occur between the application and the user. Many think that it is only associated with the design, however, UI also looks after the functionality of an application. Another common misconception about the user interface is that it is only about the development of navigation menus and buttons. However, in reality, it is much more complex than that.

Main Difference between UI and UX:

The basic difference between UI and UX is that UI consists of technical elements that cause the interaction between the app and user, while UX engulfs all the perception that the user thinks about their experience with the app.

Apart from the basic difference, there some other ways through which we can differentiate both UI and UX:

1. UI focuses on the app performance while UX focuses on the entire user journey.

2. User Interface (UI) determines how the app will look like, while UX determines what problem it will solve in the users’ life.

3. UI revolves around visually directing the user about the app interface, while UX includes researching, testing, developing, and prototyping the app.

4. UI, unlike UX, is limited to the screen. UX transcends beyond it and includes all interactions and touchpoints with a user.
