Tiger Shroff auditioned for Spider Man, revealed “‘I’d save you money on VFX’ to producers

Tiger Shroff

The 2016 film, “A Flying Jatt” marked Tiger Shroff sole foray into the superhero genre. But the actor recently disclosed that he almost became a Marvel superhero earlier, having tried out for Spider-Man. The actor claims that he was “very close” to landing the role of the well-known superhero.

Since 2002, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland have all portrayed Spider-Man in three different movie series. In Spider-Man: No Way Home from a year ago, the three actors even collaborated to play various incarnations of the character. Spider-Man has an Indian counterpart in Marvel Comics, but no Indian actor has ever attempted to portray him on cinema.

Tiger admitted that he had once tried out for Spider-Man and even sent tapes to the producers in an interview with ConnectFM Canada. “I had a Spider-Man audition. They received my showreel and tapes as well. They were astonished by what I was capable of.

My sales pitch to them was, “I can accomplish much of what Spider-Man can do, and I’d save you a lot of money on VFX,” Tiger recalled. The only time Spider-Man has been cast since Tiger’s first appearance was in 2015, when Tom Holland was brought on board as the third actor to perform the role on screen, however the actor did not specify when this occurred.

The next year, in Captain America: Civil War, he made his MCU Spider-Man debut. With the exception of two Avengers films, Tom has now played the role in three standalone Spider-Man movies. Tiger did, however, admit that he came close to landing the part.

He admitted, “I was really close to being a part of that.” In Spider-Man: Far From Home’s Hindi translation, Tiger finally provided the character’s voice (2017).

In the movie Heropanti 2, which also starred Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tiger was last seen on screen. On a 70 crore budget, the movie barely made 35 crore at the box office. Tiger recently made light of his movie’s box office performance during an AMA (ask me anything) session with fans on Instagram Stories.
