In India, people are gradually starting to adopt electric cars. From skyrocketing petrol and diesel prices in India to the booming entry of Indian companies into the electric car segment, there can be many reasons why people in the country are now moving towards electric cars in India. Until recently, there was a lack of electric vehicles in the Indian market, but if you talk today, many automakers including Tata, Mahindra have launched electric cars in the country. 

Even Tesla, Mercedes, Volvo, Hyundai and Elon Musk, the world’s second richest man, are set to bring many of their premium electric cars to India. However, today we will only talk about those cars which have been launched by Indian companies. These are the best cars in India that run on battery:

1. Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon is the safest SUV in the country and it is the best selling electric car in the country. It comes equipped with premium features like sunroof, follow-me-home, auto headlamps and a great audio system. It also includes safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Corner Stability Control. Using the CCS2 Fast Charger in Tata Nexon EV, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 60 minutes. The Tata Nexon EV car has been introduced in the XM, XZ + and XZ + Lux variants. XM has an ex-showroom price of Rs 13.99, XZ + for 15.39 lakh and XZ + Lux is priced at Rs 16.39 lakh.

This electric car is equipped with a 3 phase permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is capable of generating a maximum power of 127bhp and a peak torque of 245 Nm. It gets a Lithium Ion battery of 30.2kWh, due to which it can run 312 km in Tata EV single charge.

2. Tata Tigor EV

The Tata Tigor EV is a five-seater electric car that comes with a 72V 3 phase AC induction motor and is capable of generating peak power of 40.23bhp and a maximum torque of 105 Nm. It gets a Lithium Ion battery of 21.5kWh, due to which the Tigor EV has a range of 213 km. In fast charging, this battery pack takes 2 hours to charge and in normal charging it takes 11 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge. Its top speed is 80Kmph. The ground clearance is 176mm and boot space is 255L. The Tata Tigor XE + has a Delhi ex-showroom price of Rs 9.5 lakh and its two other variants Tigor XM + and Tigor XT + come for Rs 9.75 lakh and Rs 9.90 lakh respectively.

3. Mahindra E Verito

Mahindra’s E Verito is also a five-seater electric car and, like the Tigor EV, comes with a 72V 3 phase AC induction motor and is capable of generating peak power of 41.5bhp and max torque of 91Nm. It gets a 28ah Lithium Ion battery pack, which helps this car to run a maximum of 110 KM in a single charge. In fast charging, this battery pack can be 80 percent charged in 1 hour 30 minutes and in normal charging it takes 11 hours 30 minutes to be fully charged. Its top speed is 86 Mph. The ground clearance is 172mm and the boot space is 510L. The ex-showroom price of the D2 variant of Mahindra E Verito is Rs. 10.15 lakhs and the price of D6 variants is Rs. 10.5 lakhs in Delhi.

4. Jaguar I-Pace

If you do not know, then let me tell you that Jaguar is part of the Tata group and I-Pace, the luxury electric car of this company is present in India. It is a full size sedan car, which works on a 90kWh EV400 motor. This motor is capable of generating a peak power of 394.26bhp and a maximum torque of 696Nm. Its top speed is 200Kmph. The company claims that this electric car can hold a speed of 0 to 100 km in 4.8 seconds. All the luxury features are available in it. This luxurious electric car has been launched in three variants. Ex-showroom price of its base trim is Rs 1.05 crore, mid trim is priced at Rs 1.08 crore and top trim is priced at Rs 1.12 crore.
