The tech smart MNC, Tesla, is all set to set their first showroom in the Indian market

Tesla, the electric car company of US billionaire Elon Musk, may soon enter the Indian automobile market. The company is looking for space to open showrooms in three cities in India and is also hiring business executives. Sources connected with the matter have informed the news agency Reuters about this.

According to reports, Tesla is trying to set up business before entering India. American electric car maker Tesla has registered in India as a local company in January 2021.

Tesla can start selling its Model-3 sedans in India this year by importing them. With these models, the company’s efforts will be an attempt to step into the market of rich customers. However, it will not be easy for Tesla to crack India’s market and capture a large share.

Based on market capitalization, Tesla, the world’s most valuable automaker, is looking for space in three major cities in India for its showrooms and service centers. The company wants 20,000 to 30,000 square feet of space for showrooms and service centers in all cities. Sources have been quoted as saying that apart from Delhi, the capital of the country, the economic hubs Mumbai and Tech City Bangalore are also included. In October last year, Elon Musk had informed from his Twitter account that Tesla will enter the Indian market in the year 2021.

Apart from this, two sources related to the case have said that Tesla has recruited former executive Manuj Khurana of India’s investment promotion body Invest India. It is being said that Manuja has been made part of the team by Tesla to lead policy and business development efforts in India. Some luxury car showrooms in metro cities in India typically have between 8,000 and 10,000 sq ft. Most showrooms in India are small, with high-end real estate not available in cities such as Delhi or Mumbai. A source said, “If you look at the showrooms of Tesla in other countries of the world, they are like experience centers. In India also Tesla will try to give the same experience with some changes.”
