SpaceX terminate employees on breach attempted against CEO Elon Musk

Recently, the Elon Musk run SpaceX has fired numerous employees who were involved in the open letter incident that resulted into the billionaire’s blasted rage. According to media reports published on Friday, an email from the office of SpaceX’s president, Gwynne Shotwell, had resulted into the termination of several employees who were involved in the circulation of a letter.

The writers of the letter are believed to have denounced Musk’s actions which were proving to be a “frequent source of distraction and embarrassment for us, particularly in recent weeks.” The New York Times first reported this incident to purge out of whatever information the editors could seek from three employees associated with the matter.

There has been no disclosure on the mass termination conducted by SpaceX yet; no one knows why the employees were at once asked to resign. According to sources, these employees had crossed their line on unacceptable terms for which they were rightfully charged.

Shotwell, reacting to the incident said, “The letter, solicitations and general process made employees feel uncomfortable, intimidated and bullied, and/or angry because the letter pressured them to sign onto something that did not reflect their views.”

The termination process of SpaceX occurred on Thursday; it’s important to note that on the same day, Musk addressed the employees of Twitter about the US$44 billion deal that issued his ownership of the social media venture for the first time in direct contact.

As the Twitter ownership news unfolded, there came in another report on Musk’s payment of $250,000 to a flight attendant in order to curb a potential lawsuit of sexual harassment against him. However, reacting to the incident, Musk claimed the allegations to be nothing more than a sham. Last month, Shotwell had sent out an email to all SpaceX employees, assuring them of the allegations being completely false.

The employees of SpaceX have continuously reiterated that Musk’s recent interventions as well few of his tweets sent out to all his followers (98 million) case a shadow on the status of the company. Here is what the employees wrote in their open letter:

“As our CEO and most prominent spokesperson, Elon is seen as the face of SpaceX — every tweet that Elon sends is a de facto public statement by the company,” the open letter said. “It is critical to make clear to our teams and to our potential talent pool that his messaging does not reflect our work, our mission, or our values.”

In light of this letter, SpaceX terminated all the employees in association with it, reiterating that there is zero tolerance towards breaches in the company.
