The British government is keen on revitalising the defensive industrial relation with the Indian government as there has been no major big-ticket arms deal with India since both the nations parted their contracts in 2004 and 2010 respectively, where more than 120 Hawk trainer aircraft were last dealt.

As per the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s statement, since April, both the sides have agreed upon expanding its defence and security cooperation that looks to support “Make in India” manufacturing ideals.

The UK government is also to make an India-specific ‘Open General Export License’ that will reduce regulations on the bureaucracy along with slashing delivery time for security and defence procurements.
