Faisal Chaudhary, a Congress activist in Meerut and a lookalike of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, joined the march in Baghpat on Wednesday when the Congress’ current “Bharat Jodo Yatra” entered Uttar Pradesh.

Following a stopover at Ailum hamlet in Shamli for the night, the Bharat Jodo Yatra began its trip about 6am on Thursday. Despite the bitter cold, a large contingent of marchers carrying the Tricolor marched across the countryside.

Other Congress workers were with Chaudhary, who was seen sporting a white T-shirt similar to the one Gandhi has worn for the most of the voyage.

“The Meerut Congress Committee counts me as a member. I started moving around yesterday afternoon (Tuesday). I’ve heard that I resemble Rahul Gandhi. It is satisfying. They even join me in taking photos. More significantly, I work for the Congress as well,” Chaudhary told news agency ANI.

When questioned about the Bharat Jodo Yatra’s effects, he responded, “This will provide a positive message. We have brought up the topics of prejudice, farming, and unemployment.

On Thursday evening, the march is anticipated to arrive at Panipat, Haryana, bringing it to a close in that politically significant state, which elects 80 representatives to the Lok Sabha.

Gandhi was accompanied by top members of the Congress, including Brijlal Khabri and former Union minister Jairam Ramesh. The yatra was joined by hundreds of people holding the Tricolor as it passed through the Shamli district.
