PM Narendra Modi to address 108th Indian Science Congress today

On Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi will deliver a video address at the 108th Indian Science Congress (ISC). Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, which is commemorating its 100th anniversary this year, will host the five-day session. The ISC’s prior iteration took place in Bengaluru in January 2020.

“Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment” is the subject of this year’s ISC. A government announcement states that the gathering would discuss holistic growth, evaluated economies, and sustainable goals while concentrating on sustainable development with the participation of all societal groups, especially women.

The “Children Science Congress,” which is being organised as a special feature of the ISC this year to provide kids the chance to use their scientific aptitude and knowledge and to actualize their creativity via scientific activities.

The “Farmer’s Science Congress,” which will serve as a forum to advance the bioeconomy and draw young people to agriculture, will be covered in the sessions. The “Tribal Science Congress,” which will focus on the empowerment of tribal women and give a venue for the scientific exposition of indigenous ancient knowledge systems and practice, will also be among the sessions.

Nobel laureates, top researchers from India and abroad, specialists, and technocrats from many different fields—including space, defense, IT, and medical research—will be present at the plenary sessions.

Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the governor of Maharashtra and chancellor of the Maharashtra Public Universities, Nitin Gadkari, the union minister of state (independent charge) for science and technology and earth sciences, and Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, are among the prominent figures scheduled to attend the event.

Dr. Subhash R. Chaudhari, vice chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, and Dr. Vijay Laxmi Saxena, general president of the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkata, will also be in attendance.

According to the press release, the sessions will present applied research in the fields of agriculture and forestry, animal, veterinary, and fisheries sciences, anthropology and behavioral sciences, chemical, earth system, engineering, environmental, information and communication science and technology, material, mathematical, and medical sciences, as well as new biology, physical sciences, and plant sciences.
