NATO nations strategize on defense spending: Chief Jens Stoltenberg

According to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, NATO nations will review their defense spending goals in the coming months as some of them demand that a 2% aim be changed to a minimum amount.

In an interview that was published on Tuesday, Stoltenberg was quoted by DPA as saying, “Some friends are firmly in favour of increasing the present 2% aim into a minimum.”

According to Stoltenberg, he will lead the negotiations. We will meet, have ministerial meetings, and have discussions in the capitals, he said. As per DPA, he omitted to mention which NATO nations were pressing for a more aggressive goal.

The head of NATO stated that he wanted to have a deal in place by the time of NATO’s upcoming regular summit, which will be held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, on July 11 and 12.

The NATO supremo stated that he hoped to have a resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict by the organization’s following regular summit.
