In a recent interview, Bollywood actress Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah actively highlighted the double standards that the industry and the world carries towards male actors as well as ordinary men, which is nothing but a common phenomenon in every Indian household.

Concerning both the powerhouses’ statements, Mira Rajput was all swayed in support for them. During a segment of an interview, both Vidya and Shefali talked about how they have been often interrupted while they worked due to some phone calls or other requirement back in home, however, the same does not happen often with their husbands Sidharth Roy Kapur and Vipul Amrutlal Shah respectievy, when they are in work.

Mira Rajput, who is married to Shahid Kapoor, a renowned Bollywood star, highly supported both Vidya and Shefali’s remarks while noting that women’s work deserve equal respect, not only in the industry but in all spheres of life.

Sharing a clip from the interview over her Instagram story, Mira Rajput showed extensive supports as she added clapping emojis for both the women along with a message that read, “Equality starts at and extends to the home. Whatever she does, a woman’s work deserves respect. So next time you think about interrupting her calls be ready to be asked what to make for the dinner in the middle of yours.”

Both the Bollywood actresses remarked their respective statements in an exclusive interview with Quint during the promotion for their upcoming film Jalsa, which released in March 2022. A clip of the same interview was recently shared by SheThePeople, which could bag Mira’s attention towards it.

Reiterating her views, Vidya Balan said in her interview, “Siddharth and I are on calls at the same time. They (domestic workers) don’t mind interrupting me, but they mind interrupting Siddharth. Because I just think that they feel the man is working and the woman isn’t, doesn’t matter what I do. Somewhere I think at home you’re just… They feel ki thik hai na, didi ko to puch sakte hain (they feel it’s okay, can interrupt the woman).”

Recalling a similar incident, Shefali Shah also shared her experience during the screening of her Netflix series named Delhi Crime (2019) at the Sundance Film Festival. Talking about that, she remarked, “You’re talking about, you know, cook or help coming and asking. (In my case) My son is calling me repeatedly. I am sitting there in the audience, I message him saying, ‘you know baby, I’m in the middle of my first screening showcasing of Delhi Crime at the Sundance’. And he is like ‘send me the OTP (repeatedly)…I was like ‘are you serious.”

Jalsa, the Amazon Prime movie that starred Shefali and Vidya as co-stars, was released on March 18, 2022. The movie showcases Vidya as a renowned journalist and Shefali as her cook, whose daughter becomes the subject of a hit and run accident case.
