IndiGo

In a recent development, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has adopted strong cognizance against the cheap and low-cost IndiGo airline for massive flight delays across the country. Reacting to the same, the DGCA has sought a clarification from the authorities of the concerned airlines in this regard.

As per recent data, most IndiGo flights around the country had been facing delays and were hence flying behind the stipulated time. The main reason behind such a cuss is said to be the non-availability of required crew members for flight.

On Saturday, numerous flights were reportedly flying behind schedule due to the shortage of cabin crew members in the company. A report by PTI, which consists of data produced by the aviation ministry, highlights the fact that 55% of the total domestic flights by IndiGo had been running off time since quite a few days as there has been a significant lack of cabin crew members due to rising sick leave applications.

The PTI report also stated that the mass leave program by cabin crew members of the IndiGo flights was expected as there has been a recruitment drive going on in Air India. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, IndiGo has had been implying several pay-reductions due to growing leaves.

On Saturday, IndiGo’s budget carrier performance hit its lowest figure with the ministry terming it at 45.2% – that remains at the bottom of the list. Compared to IndiGo’s figures, on-time performing flights by Air India, Vistara, SpiceJet, Air Asia and Go First stood at 77.1%, 86.3%, 80.4%, 92.3% and 88% respectively.

Currently, IndiGo, which is India’s largest airline service, approximately operates around 1600 flights on a daily basis, both domestic and international. With such record feats, significant delay in flights across the country has largely impacted their business as well the passengers.
