Narendra Modi to inaugurate Vanijya Bhawan, NIRYAT portal today

The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the ‘Vanijya Bhawan’ on Thursday. It is the inauguration of the new office complex under the ministry of commerce and industry.

Alongside the inauguration of the new Vanijya Bhawan, PM Modi will also launch the portal of ‘National Import-Export Record for Yearly Analysis of Trade’ which will be providing crucial information pertaining to India’s foreign trade.

The Vanijya Bhawan is meant for the functioning as a modern and integrated office complex which will be due utilised by two departments under the ministry – the department for promotion of internal trade and industry, and the department of commerce.

The new bhawan is constructed near India Gate, a plot of around 4.33 acres of land. It is designed to stand as a smart building – includes principles of sustainable construction with a dire emphasis on energy saving technology. This information was reiterated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office.

As the building stands on the ground of sustainable construction, it stays so with full legitimacy – around 56% of trees available on the plot were left untouched during the construction of the building, emphasising on the need to sustain nature amidst development. Moreover, several plants that had to be uprooted were replanted again in the leftover space after the construction was over.  

As per data provided by the ministry, the Vanijya Bhawan can accommodate more than 1000 staff and office members. Additionally, the bhawan is well equipped with all-round facilities such as central air conditioning, complete networked systems, smart access control and video conferencing.

The NIRYAT has been developed as a “one-stop platform” by the government which will help provide all necessary information pertaining to nation’s foreign trades to stakeholders, helping those better judge transactions in their portfolios.
