On Saturday morning, the PM Narendra Modi visited his mother Heeraben Modi on the occasion of her 100th birthday in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Heeraben, who was born on 18th June 2022, stepped into her 100th year today.

Expressing the same, Narendra Modi tweeted a post which he personally penned for his mother, expressing his love, gratitude and joy on the occasion of his mother’s hundredth birthday. He further added that if his father had been alive today, he too would have completed his centenary this year.

PM Modi wrote a heart-filled post and shared over twitter. Here is what he wrote: “Just last week, my nephew shared a few videos of Mother from Gandhinagar. A few youngsters from the society had come home, my father’s photograph was kept on a chair, there was a kirtan, and Mother was immersed in singing bhajans while playing the manjeera. She is still the same – age may have taken a toll physically, but she is as mentally alert as ever.”

Adding more to his post, Narendra Modi wrote that he has no doubt that everything that has happened in his life – all the success and positivity – is a result of his parents’ devotion and is solely attributed to them. Recounting more from the past, PM Modi wrote, “Mother used to wash utensils at a few houses to help meet the household expenses. She would also take out time to spin the charkha to supplement our meagre income. She would do everything from peeling cotton to spinning yarn. Even in this back-breaking work, her prime concern was ensuring that the cotton thorns don’t prick us.”

In Modi’s hometown Vadnagar, several religious programmes were organised on the mark of Heeraben’s 100th birthday celebration – the programme was conducted to offer homage to God and pray for her well and health.

What Heerben was facilitated on her 100th birthday is quite contempt – an 80 metre road in Raysan has been named as Pujya Hiraba Marg, kept after Heerben Modi’s name. For the same occasion, the whole Modi family had also conducted a community meal (bhandara) at the Jagannath temple.

Soon after meeting his mother, Narendra Modi went to visit Pavagadh in the Panchmahal district, a popular religious site. He also visited Vadodra for attending the Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyaan where he laid the foundation of 18 projects under the Indian Railway (worth ₹16,369 crores).
