On Wednesday, amidst growing pressure, IndiGo airlines have denied the media accusation of having smoke in one of the cabins on the flight from Raipur-Indore. According to reports, the plane’s cabin had caught fire soon after the taxi landing at the Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
The fire incident was reported by news agency ANI, which cited the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), often considered the watchdog of cabin-smoke issues. The A320 Neo took off from Raipur, and was headed towards Indore.
ANI’s tweet, which also cited the DGCA read, “A Raipur-Indore IndiGo flight (A320Neo aircraft) was reported by the cabin crew to have smoke coming out from its cabin during Taxi In after landing, yesterday, July 05.” IndiGo airlines has not responded officially yet and there has been no statement from the company regarding the allegation.

Earlier on Tuesday, a Vistara flight flying from Bankok to Delhi had reported a similar failure during landing at the national capital of India. A statement issued by the company officials marked the journey as “uneventful” but also touchdown safe on runway.
On the same day, the media reported a series of flight malfunctions – three including SpiceJet, another involving a freighter aircraft and one Go First flight undergoing technical glitches which had to emergency landing of the same.
Over the recent months, the DGCA has reported several issues with budget airline SpiceJet, highlighting multiple forms of faults, which has led the airline company to have “failed to establish safe, efficient and reliable air services under terms of Rule 134 and Schedule XI of the Aircraft Rules, 1937”
Responding to the same, SpieJet had stated that the airline remains “committed to ensuring a safe operation for our passengers and crew” and that within three weeks, they will come up with dedicated steps to curb the issues.
