On Monday, the Tiruvallur district reported a tragic suicide incident, reportedly by a class 12 girl who died in a hostel room which is attached to a government initiated school. According to the Tiruvullar police department, “It’s too early to confirm anything except that it is a case of suicide. We are investigating it.”

The dead body of the deceased was taken to the Tiruvallur government medical college, where the further investigation will be fore-grounded after a detailed post-mortem report issued by the hospital.

According to police officials, the 17 year-old reportedly committed the suicide during the odd hours on Monday morning. This recent case has raised a lot of protests by locals as well as the parents of the deceased, leading to high police deployment.

M Sathapriya, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and Cephas Kalyan, the Superintendent of Police (SP), Tiruvallur, will be investigating the matter from within, alongside tracing connections of the case with the school.

This update has been initiated by the police after a similar incident was reported on July 14th – the suicide case of another class 12 girl in Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu. Again, on 13th July, a 16-year-old girl reportedly died in the hostel premises of a private school in Tamil Nadu.

The case reported on Monday (today) depicts that the victim was foul played (according to her parents), which might have led her to take an extreme step such as suicide. As hours are passing, the protests have been growing violent, where the school was attacked by mobs and property damaged.
