Central Government says 84,405 vacant posts in paramilitary to be filled by December 2023

The central government has been initiating the process of hiring among armed forces across various regimes in the country, having been recorded a significant number of vacancies at the moment.

Recent reports hint that a total of 84,405 are current vacant in the six Central Armed Police Forces’(CAPFs) six regimes which directly falls under the supervision of the central ministries.

The Rajya Sabha data also highlights the vacancy of around 29,985 posts in the Central Reserve Police Force – one of the highest numbers of vacancies under a single allotted department.

On Wednesday, Nityanand Rai, the Union Minister for State and Home, has cleared speculations in this matter – the government has decided to consume the vacancies in CAPFs and fill them latest by December 2023.

The total strength of all central commanding forces such as the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Assam Rifles, and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is around 10,05,779. All these clubbed together have around 84,405 vacant posts, as clarified by Rai.

Rai informed the media that the CRF consists of highest vacancies – 29,985, then BSF having 19,254, followed by 11,402 in the SSB, 9,659 in the Assam Rifles, next 10,918 in the CISF and finally 3,187 in the ITBP.

As per Rai announced, the examination date for filling up general constable posts (around 25,271) has already been conducted and is in process. The others will be carried out soon, and by December 2023, all these posts will be fulfilled.
