5G services ready to be implemented in Delhi Airport: DIAL

A representative for the airport operator stated on Thursday that the Delhi airport is prepared to support 5G services and that the passengers would be able to use the high-speed mobile network inside Terminal-3 (T-3) and its adjacent regions as soon as it is implemented.

Flyers with 5G-enabled mobile phones and SIM cards will be able to enjoy improved signal strength, seamless connectivity, negligible latency, and faster data speeds at the domestic departures pier and international arrivals baggage area of T-3, according to Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which runs the airport.

All passengers will be able to use the services between T-3 arrivals and the multi-level parking area, it was said. The deployment will take place gradually and cover the remaining portions of the airport.

The DIAL spokeswoman stated that “currently, a few Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) have enabled their network to provide 5G service for their consumers, and we expect further TSPs to connect in the coming weeks.” Additionally, a 5G network will be accessible in Aerocity’s GMR Square.

By using 5G, passengers will have access to data speeds that are 20 times quicker than those of the current Wi-Fi system. The speed will be more than 50 times faster than the current data connection network.

The spokesperson added that the 5G network would support “very deep coverage in all locations, exceptionally high-density connectivity, zero buffering while streaming, faster downloads, and flawless execution of resource-intensive apps like 3D Gaming.”

Airport applications now in use, such as passenger processing, baggage management, and airport operations, are anticipated to be improved by 5G. According to DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, the Delhi airport is still in the front when it comes to using innovative technologies. “We have constructed our own 5G infrastructure to improve their experience at the airport.

Lower latency and better speeds are available over the 5G network. This aspect of mobile technology’s next generation will help increase connection density and improve passenger experience at airports.
