Fight Corona; MLA’s one month salary donation, the need of the hour

Fight Corona; MLA’s one month salary donation, the need of the hour

The recent corona virus strain has started to induce more than 4 lakh cases on a regular basis in India. With the new upsurge and the advent of the double and triple mutations, India is facing the cruelest wrath of the man made pandemic. In the current global scenario, India tops the chart of most brutally hit country by Covid-19 as it has surpassed all the other nations on the count of regular infected people. Beyond the infected number, what is a bigger challenge is the number of deaths that are taking place on a regular basis. An average figure of more than 3,300 deaths is taking place around the country.

Out of all the states, Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu are the worst hit by the virus. On an average, more than 25 thousand cases are being detected in each of these states, with an average death toll of 355-470 in a single day.

The most profound reason for such an uncontrollable situation in India surely rests on the shoulders of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Many reports state that Narendra Modi was informed about an upcoming wave which could hit India severely back in January 2021. The global agencies like WHO and UNICEF have put forth striking proof of continuous warnings sent to India, either through calls or emails. However, as they state, the Prime Minister was keen on neglecting their appeals as he was turning his cold towards the UN in order to secure a permanent membership in the UNSC.

Today, the entire nation lacks basic health amenities like ventilation supplies, vaccination stocks, oxygen infiltration, medicinal absence, lack of ICU beds and others. In times of emergency, India is facing the worst scenario where the country is hollowed out with the most basic of the basic amenities. Despite the global monetary and supply support that our country is witnessing in today’s time, yet the entire nation is still lacking on funds and medical infrastructure to rely upon. At challenging times like this, the ruling party is being completely negligent on the proper usage of funds, entirely focusing on civilising the healthcare industry. Instead, funds are being distributed for events like the Maha Kumbh Mela, the Rajya Sabha elections, reconstruction of the Delhi Parliament and the construction of the mighty Ram Mandir.

In such a situation, isn’t it ideal for the the BJP led MLA’s and MP’s to donate their one month salary for the development of oxygen plants, medical equipment, vaccines and inclusion of more doctors? No doubt, the MLAs of Rajasthan and Assam have already done so, back in 2020. Now it is time for the other states to join the movement and release funds from their personal pocket, for helping the nation fight the pandemic swiftly.

There are a total 4120 number of MLAs from all the 29 states of India. When we put an overall calculation, the grand total of MLA’s collective one month salary from all the 29 states sum to a total figure of ₹482,512,400. This huge sum of money can buy a total supply of 4,02,094 oxygen cylinders (at ₹1,200/cylinder). When the entire globe is looking forward to donating some amount of monetary relief to India, it becomes important for our political leaders to donate as well. A month’s salary from each individual won’t do much harm, as we all know.

Don’t you think it’s high time for our Modi-led government to do something severe on the matter? Isn’t it the need of the hour for our political leaders to donate some amount? Let us know your views in the comments box.
