On Friday, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) have successfully conducted its inaugural flight in the Autonomous Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator. This drive was hosted in the Aeronautical Test Range, Chitradurga, Karnataka, under the presence of senior DRDO officials.
Talking to the media, DRDO gave details of the flight, “Operating in a fully autonomous mode, the aircraft exhibited a perfect flight, including take-off, way point navigation and a smooth touchdown. This flight marks a major milestone in terms of proving critical technologies towards the development of future unmanned aircraft and is significant step towards self-reliance in such strategic defence technologies.”

The unnamed fighter aircraft, as told by the Bengaluru-based designer and developer Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), which is a highly sophisticated research laboratory, is powered by an impactful turbofan engine, and holds excessive capabilities to not only fly high but fast too.
The aircraft’s frame, flight control and avionics system, and its undercarriage are developed extrinsically, as the DRDO added. On the recent developmental success project of DRDO, the defense minister Rajnath Singh took to his twitter handle for wishing heartiest congratulations to the entire team.
Reiterating the same, Rajnath Singh tweeted, “Congratulations to @DRDO_India on successful maiden flight of the Autonomous Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator from Chitradurga ATR. It is a major achievement towards autonomous aircrafts which will pave the way for Aatmanirbhar Bharat in terms of critical military systems.”

Additionally, the Chairman, DRDO, Dr. G Satheesh Reddy also wish many congratulations to the entire team involved in the project, and highly appreciated the overall design, enhancement, operation, and testing of the system.
