Draupadi Murmu had been elected as the 15th president of India on Thursday, following her glorious victory against the opposition’s elected candidate Yashwant Singh. Clinching victory by an impressive margin, Murmur is the first tribal to be elected to such top-tier position, and also the youngest in the history of the country.
Murmu will be taking the oath as the President of India on 25th July, following the end of outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind’s tenure on 24th July. As per reports, after serving his tenure, Kovind will be shifting to a bungalow located on Janpath 12 road.
As Draupadi Murmu becomes the face of the new Indian President, here are some of the perks that she will enjoy –
- The ongoing salary of the Indian President is 5 lakh INR/month – it was amended and raised by 200% back in 2016.
- Post retirement, Murmu will enjoy a pension sum 1.5 lakh INR, and her spouse will be receiving 30,000 INR per month as a secretarial assistance.
- She will enjoy free medical and housing care, and up to 1lakh INR/year for office expenses.
- Murmu will be residing in the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official residence of the President of India. The Bhawan consists of 2,00,000 sq feet (floor area) and around 340 rooms.
- Draupadi Murmu will have access to two official retreats – Hyderabad’s Bolarum and Shimla’s Mashobra – where she can enjoy her vacations.
