Covid-19: 39+ international travelers found positive in airports within 3 days

According to PTI, at least 39 foreign visitors to India who were randomly tested at airports by the Center had Covid-19 positive results. This occurs as Mansukh Mandaviya, the union health minister, is scheduled to visit the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi tomorrow to assess the procedures put in place for screening international visitors.

From the start of the following week, the Center is likely to make it mandatory for travellers travelling from China and other affected nations. According to official sources who spoke to PTI, the next 40 days will be critical since January might see a Covid-19 increase throughout the nation.

A Health Ministry official said, “In the past, it has been noted that a fresh COVID-19 wave will arrive in India about 30-35 days after it does in East Asia. This has becoming common.”

The government may make filling out “Air Suvidha” forms a requirement for international travelers arriving from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Singapore. India has started to keep a careful eye on the pandemic ahead of the New Year due to a global spike in Covid-19 infections in China and numerous other nations.

Although the government—whether at the federal or state level—has not placed any restrictions on festivities, it has advised individuals to behave in a manner that is consistent with Covid. To ensure readiness for any Covid-19-related scenario, hospitals across the nation undertook a simulated drill.

Meetings have been held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to evaluate the nation’s readiness to handle a recent spike in cases. The government has ordered a review of the readiness of beds, ventilators, oxygen, emergency medications, and medical personnel.
