China under record flood level, southern provinces raise alert due to rising water level

China

Since last two weeks, China has been receiving abundant rainfalls due to ongoing climatic changes across south-eastern Asia. The pounding rainfall has led to rising floods in China; two major provinces in southern China have been flooded by rain, as the water-level has reached record high levels of the decade.

As per media reports, these two provinces have rivers overflowed, banks broken, and pumping facilities dead, prompting excessive floods, work disruptions and difficult life sustenance.

The average rainfall received by the province of Guangdong located in the Shaoguan city, China has surpassed records as the province has been receiving continuous rainfall since last week of May. The breaching of historical records have led to the rising of flood alerts across the province to “Level I”, highest in the decade.

As per the interviews of local people, the residents have been asked to stay away from flowing water bodies and river banks. Communities residing in the lower parts of the province have been asked to relocate to higher ground. The reports issued by state run television channels state that the floodwater has reached a 50-yard high level.
