‘Avatar The Way of Water’ collects $1 billion in 14 days

Within 14 days of its release, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water has surpassed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. Along with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which also reached $1 billion in 2018 after 14 days, it has now become the fastest movie this year to reach the milestone within such a short period of time and the 6th fastest movie to do so in history.

The James Cameron movie is currently the third-highest-grossing movie released during the epidemic era, surpassing Doctor Strange And The Multiverse of Madness’s earnings, and it is on track to surpass Jurassic World: Dominion’s earnings to strive for the second spot.

The top spot is currently held by Spider-Man: No Way Home, which earned $1.91 billion worldwide and remains the most successful movie of the epidemic era. Since Spider-Man: No Way Home took 12 days to reach the $1 billion mark, Avatar: The Way of Water has done so more quickly. With a total worldwide take of $2.97 billion, the original Avatar, which debuted in 2009, continues to hold the title of highest-grossing movie of all time.

13 years after the 2009 release of the first Avatar movie, James Cameron has published Avatar: The Way of Water. The sequel follows Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) as they fight to save their children from the Skypeople’s resurgence and Colonel Quaritch’s (Steven Lang) vengeful intentions.

The December 16 global release of Avatar: The Way of Water also features Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, and Jemaine Clement. The movie has been made available to watch in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The saga of the Na’vi tribes of Pandora will be continued in the Avatar franchise’s upcoming two films, which are already in the planning stages.

The movie is up for two Golden Globes in 2019 nominations. James is competing for Best Director and Best Motion Picture – Drama. The sci-fi movie was also selected by the American Film Institute and National Board of Review as one of the top 10 movies of 2022.
