Arjan Bhullar becomes the first Indian-origin fighter to win the MMA World Title

Arjan Bhullar became the first Indian-origin fighter to win the world title in the top-level MMA promotion. He won the Heavyweight World Championship at the One Championship in Singapore, defeating Brandon Vera. Bhullar not only won the title but also ended the five-year-old Vera’s winning streak.

Let’s know the whole news and introduction of Bhullar.

Indian fighter Bhullar completely dominated the second round of the fight. After losing the match, Vera told reporters that for the first time he felt so much pressure in the first round. He said, “I am in good shape, we are training and we are working with the best people in the world. This is new to me.”

Bhullar was born in Columbia and started wrestling from an early age. He continued this even after he started wrestling from college. He won a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games while wrestling for Canada. He also represented Canada at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Bhullar, who was in the Canadian team for five years, was the national champion from 2008 to 2012.

In August 2014, Bhullar contested a mixed martial arts match for the first time and became a pro in November the same year. In May 2017, he signed a contract for the first time with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In July 2019, he joined the Forest Championship. He was scheduled to fight against Vera in May last year, but the bout was canceled due to Corona. Bhullar has fought 12 matches so far in mixed martial arts, out of which he has won 11 and lost only one match. He has four wins through knockouts.
