Apple launches e-sim in iPhone 14 series, check details:

Apple

Apple, a global leader in technology, unveiled the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 plus, iPhone 14 pro, and iPhone 14 pro max on September 7 during its “Far out” event in Apple Park. The Cupertino company confirmed that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus marketed in US markets will only support eSIM and will not have physical SIM cards during the event, reinforcing its intention to eliminate physical SIM cards.

What is the eSIM?

A digital integrated, programmable, and rewritable SIM is essentially what an eSIM is. Without an actual nano-SIM, it can make use of your network carrier’s cellular plan.

What advantages come with utilising an eSIM?

With the eSIM, it is simple to switch the network provider, data, or any service package via websites. Currently, getting a physical SIM card to switch the cell network requires going to the store (doorstep delivery is also possible in rare circumstances).

Multiple SIM cards are supported with the eSim. Apple permits up to eight eSIMs to be installed on an iPhone, but only two phone numbers can be utilised at once. Because smartphones currently only have two sim card slots, only two network carriers can be subscribed to simultaneously.

What is the prerequisite for using eSIM?

Since the release of the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR as well as cellular-enabled iPads and Apple Watches, Apple has supported eSIMs with physical SIMs.

In India, iPhone 14 series handsets will come with a SIM tray and an eSIM slot. These devices require an operating system no older than iOS 12.1.

One furthermore needs to be a member of a mobile network that accepts eSIMs in order to use an eSIM in the qualified devices. JIO gives its customers the option of using an eSIM in India.

How is an eSIM set up?

Apple recommends the next procedure for installing an eSIM in iPhone devices. When the message “Carrier Cellular Plan Ready to Be Installed” shows, touch it>Tap Carrier Cellular Plan Ready to Be Installed in the Settings app> At the bottom of the screen, click Continue.

To check your iPhone’s cellular connectivity, dial a number>Remove your physical SIM card if the plan you activated replaces the one on it. Restart your iPhone after that.
