Anurag Thakur, the union minister, criticized the opposition on Saturday for continuously “insulting” President Droupadi Murmu and denounced their response to the president’s speech prior to the budget session in Parliament.

“The opposition continuously disparages the president. They have a poor attitude, and they should be ashamed of how they responded to the president’s speech. They ought to apologize,” Thakur was reported by the news agency ANI as saying.

He added that because the budget has “something for all areas,” opposition parties are unable to discuss it.
They were left dumbfounded when they saw that the budget had provisions for all demographic groups and was transparent and inclusive. They are making noises rather than talking about the Budget, he continued.

Thakur responded to the opposition’s claims that LIC and SBI, two titans of the public sector, were linked to the Adani companies. He questioned, “Why is the opposition leaving the conversation?”

Due to opposition parties’ demands for a hearing on the Adani controversy, the Parliament’s budget session was postponed for the second day in a row.

The extent to which State Bank of India (SBI) and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) are exposed to the Adani Group, whose market value has lost more than $100 billion since American firm Hindenburg Research accused it of fraud. The leaders of 16 opposition parties met on Friday morning to develop a common strategy. Later, they submitted adjournment notices in both Houses to suspend other business.

A Congress MP stated, “We want to take part in the discussion and discuss about SBI and LIC and who drove these two government sector corporations to invest in Adani group.” The President’s talk prior to the session was also criticized by the opposition and dubbed a “election speech for Modi”

“Although the president doesn’t run for office, it appears that the BJP government will use her to lead its next campaign. The entire speech was an attempt to glorify the government for everything it has accomplished while ignoring the parts where it hasn’t done as well,”, Shashi Tharoor, a Congressman, stated previously.
