Alyssa Carson has been studying astrobiology at Florida Technical University since she was 15 years old. She is the youngest college freshman ever to have been awarded the prestigious advanced ‘possum space academy’. Here she was also selected for applied astronautics. She has also designed the world’s first bag for space tourism called the horizon one luggage line. This bag is designed for luggage suited to travel in space. Carson, in collaboration with berlin-based travel brand horizon studios, has designed specific models for the bags. It is being designed keeping in mind the ambitions of nasa in 2030 and the world’s first manned mission to land on mars.
It is a space-friendly luggage line and was presented by the horizon company last year under the limited edition. This cabin trolley bag has also been approved by NASA. The bag has a smart-battery charger, 360-degree revolving wheels and an aerospace-grade polycarbonate hard case.
Carson says that space tourism is not far away now. In a few years, we will start traveling from earth to space in a journey of 6 hours. In such a situation, this bag has been made keeping in mind what to take with you.
The work is still going on on this bag and some requirements such as flexibility, easy to bend and more stuff in less space remain to be worked out in a spaceless gravitational environment. This bag will also have such a facility with which people can interact with their family members from space to earth.
She also encouraged the girls to make a career in the field of space and said that nasa is going to soon bring programs that will train school children. In this, both men and women will get equal opportunity. There is still a shortage of thousands of space engineers, scientists and astronauts in agencies such as nasa.
