A feature that will enable users to recognize a “kept message” in the chat is being developed by the Meta-owned platform, according to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks news and updates about WhatsApp.
Users can check for a bookmark icon (follow white arrow) that appears in the message bubble of vanishing messages to identify a “kept message” in WhatsApp.

Even if the disappearing message option is enabled, this mark indicates that the message has been “kept” and will remain in the conversation. However, it is unknown when people will be able to employ this capacity.

This is another function that WhatsApp is creating, as WABetaInfo previously reported. It is a temporary saved vanishing message, so everyone in the conversation will be able to see it and it won’t be automatically wiped from the chat. Users can, however, “un-keep” it at any moment and remove it permanently.
It is an optional feature that users can use for more privacy, according to WhatsApp. Users can enable the option to have messages expire 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days after they are sent.
