In a recent phenomenon, the tech giant Google India announced its intent on removing plagued content in order to enhance user-satisfaction. Working closely on the perception of the Information Technology Rules, 2021, Google India has taken down approximately four lakh faulty content pieces in the month of May’22 by using an automated detection technology.
As per data, the company had received around 25,694 complaints from users across various locations in India through the designated mechanisms in the initial first month reporting time.
Google India wrote in their report, “These complaints relate to third-party content that is believed to violate local laws or personal rights on Google’s SSMI platforms.”

The report further read, “The complaints received consist of various categories. Some requests may allege infringement of intellectual property rights, while others claim violation of local laws prohibiting types of content on grounds such as defamation.”
Out of all complaints, majority of them (around 24,000) pertains to the copyright infringement act – trademark infringement (433) and other legal problems (257) were also major parts of the malware.
Around 62,673 content pieces were removed by Google India in their recent drive. According to the management, these content pieces had broken community guidelines and were rightly taken down based on user complaints.
